Future automation of HVAC system
The plans for the HVAC is another future project. The BayWeb unit will replace an exisiting digital thermostat and connect through exisitng wiring. A router will be placed in the basement and hard wired to a modem in the first floor office. In preparation while construction is in progress, an Ethernet cable will be run from the basement to the first floor office. The system has wireless capabilities but it is recommended that it be hardwired for safety reasons.
floor plan for original portion of first floor
This is the original floor plan for the entrance of the home. Just to the left upon entering the residence is where the light switches are located. It is at this location that the chandalier switch was changed. This particular light illuminates outside the front door as well as the hallway.

Customer Concerns
As a future project, the customer was offered a link to remotely control the HVAC system. The home is currently under construction, a 580'sq. ft. master suite is being added to the first floor. The home owner is considered disabled due to an on the job accident. Automating the home would be a plus. The HVAC trunking has been extended throughout the new addition. At this point, the customer has declined but is not ruling it out for the future. The kitchen portion of the house will be extended in the not so distant future and this will be added at that point. The HVAC installers will have to return to the home in order to calibrate the system throughout the first floor. The second floor of the home is not involved at this time. When the additional extension is started, an additional bedroom and bathroom will be added.
Home automation
This past Saturday, Amy,Jonathan, and myself successfully changed a light switch in my house. The switch is a remote accessible dimmer. This has to be the most practical project I've been involved with. The customer is very happy. Living in the woods is a beautiful place to be, but, very dark at night when you forget to leave lights on or if you end up out longer than expected. I found the range to be much longer than the 30 feet the instructions say.
